Pre- and post-tuition Assessment Tools have been specially developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) for this Program. The pre-assessment will diagnose each student’s needs in reading, writing or numeracy so the tutor can plan tuition and access appropriate supporting resources. The post-assessment will measure student achievement at the end of tuition.
The Assessment Tools currently available for verified tutors and schools are:

The Department has developed a Tutor Kit that will be sent to tutors once they have been verified by their employer. This kit includes a Tutor Kit Booklet and 2 CD's which contain the assessment tools and relevant documents that have been developed to assist tutors participating in An Even Start - National Tuition Program.
