An Even Start program has been extended
On 7 October 2008, the Hon Julia Gillard MP, Minister for Education agreed to extend tuition delivery under An Even Start – National Tuition Program. This extension is intended to give all registered students the opportunity to complete the program. The Department is currently working with State and Territory education authorities and the Private Tuition Coordinator regarding the delivery and continued support of the program.

Assessment tool II Software released
The updated version of the pre- and post-tuition Assessment Tool software is now available to Tutors. Login to your account on the National Tuition Management System  and then select the 'Assessment and Resources' tab on the top menu to download the assessment tools.

The Commonwealth Government announced the An Even Start – National Tuition Program will be delivered in 2008 although the Program would not continue beyond 2008...See the Budget update for further information.

Online System now available for Tutor and Tuition Company registration now available
Tutors and Tuition Companies can now register on the National Tuition Management System. For more details, see Tutor Registration

Parents/caregivers of eligible students to be notified during Term 1, 2008

Parents/caregivers of eligible students will receive a letter in Term 1 2008, either through the child’s school or from the local education authority. This letter will inform parents that their child is eligible and advise how they can arrange tuition for their child.

Private Tuition Coordinator appointed
Following an open tender process in October 2007, Curriculum Corporation has been selected as the Private Tuition Coordinator. Curriculum Corporation will be responsible for managing the private tutor market nationally. Private tutors and tuition companies must be approved by the Private Tuition Coordinator to deliver tuition under the program.
